I walk
drenched in despair
the december air feels vacant
shuddering like it's been abandoned and left to die
silence
louder than the wind bellowing through the tunnels
pierces my ears
but I am abscent
my abscence leaves my body a shell
cold and desolate
depleated of the things it once had
my face numb
my feet sore
I walk on indifferent

trees are left barren
twisted and deformed
the leaves on the ground wilting to escape the endless autumn
waiting
waiting to be broken by the winter
but the winter never comes

it's cold
but not cold enough to snow
just cold enough for the miserable grey air to feel unwelcoming
and for the cold dark sky to beckon thoughts of the past

so I stare into the distant unknown
and everything is flat and motionless
as it fades into the background of my mind

I blink and another day is gone
fleeting and blurred like the lines between the seasons
pleading to be let go
begging for release
I am dragged
kicking and screaming through
the days
the weeks
the years
the cold unwaivering
until I am left dead
like the leaves when winter comes.
